Getting around Hong Kong: buses, trams and taxis

🇭🇰 This article is about transport in Hong Kong, which I visited on my trip through four Chinas.

🚌 Before I went, my picture of Hong Kong was the big double-decker bus, not the skyscrapers and not the street waffles 😁
The buses do exist, they really are double-deckers and the look is English. They are built in China, though, by Zhongtong Bus and Yutong.

The makers try to keep the old English classic, with air conditioning added inside. And these are ordinary city buses, not tourist ones, as in many cities around the world.

🚃 The trams are funny: narrow, but very quick, and they also keep the style of the British past.

🚘 Taxis are the Japanese classic. No Chinese brands at all. Toyota only, no exceptions.

It is fun to watch cars share the road with the carts workers use to haul bamboo.
